Before his training facility closed its doors on March 21, Eric Holtz had already begun to adjust. All team training sessions were canceled. Specific lessons were incomplete to one-on-ones. Drills were conducted from outside arm’s reach.
Holtz said “It enabled us to keep enough distance between the instructor and the athletes. We were even asking parents to wait in their cars. Holtz and his staff at Game on 13 a baseball and softball training facility in Elmsford have adjusted further. In fact, he’s now training youth baseball players virtually. Holtz has created a Zoom classroom and schooled kids ages 8 to 18, some as far away as Israel.”
The arrival of Olympic baseball and softball is required to be one of the fundamental attractions of the Tokyo Olympic, and we for the advantage of our game and competitors around the world are doing all that we can to make it the most invigorating and serious Olympic baseball time ever.
“We’re covering all different topics, like pitching, hitting, using the whole field, how to control emotions, being a good team player, how your actions can impact yourself and others,” he said. “It’s run the gamut.”
Holtz, who trains some of the area’s top high school baseball players, is also the manager for Team Israel, which went 17-4 last summer to qualify for the 2020 Olympics. Israel, which also competed at the 2017 World Baseball Classic, had never qualified for an Olympics before. With the Tokyo Olympic until next summer, Holtz has focused on tutoring athletes.
