On October 16, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) published the contract notices for the construction bids for the Olympic swimming, volleyball and rowing/kayaking venues. Olympic swimming events are scheduled to take place at the Aquatic Olympic Center in Koto-ward. The total area of the complex is estimated at 77,000 m2, of which 46,600 m2 will become a permanent installation. The estimated price for the complex has been set at ¥ 53 billion (€ 391 million).
Applications to participate in the tender must be submitted before November 26, 2015. The final selection of the winning bid is established on January 13, 2016. It is expected that the hearings on the technical proposals will be held on the 9th and December 10, 2015.
Presently called Ariake Arena, this capacity, also in Koto-ward, is scheduled to host the Olympic volleyball competition. The probable scale of the difficult is 45,600 m2. The estimated price of this facility has been set at approximately ¥ 36 billion (€ 266 million). The deadlines are the same as for the Aquatic Center. Hearings on technical proposals are expected to take place on December 9 and 10, 2015.
Sea Forest Waterway
The Sea Forest Waterway will host rowing and kayaking events. This construction phase includes the design and construction of port structures, watergate and water level control facilities (storage/drainage). The estimated price established by TMG is ¥ 25 billion (€ 183 million). Participation applications must be submitted before November 27, 2015.
Hearings on technical proposals are expected to take place on December 9 and 10, 2015.
