Briton Noah Williams won the first Fina Diving World Series gold medal in his career by winning the 10m platform title in Montreal, Canada. 19-year-old, who over 10th at last year’s World Championships, scored a total of 493.35 points for his six procedures.

Skilled Russians Viktor Minibaev (472.65) and Aleksandr Bondar (468.10) ended second and third correspondingly. Britain’s Tom Daley, who has suffered wounds this season, finished fifth. The triple world champion and double Olympic bronze medalist, who trains with Williams in London, is still the main contender for a place in the men’s 10m event at the Olympic 2020.
However, Williams increased his chances of winning second place from GB at the Tokyo Olympic. Olympic champion Jack Laugher started his season with silver medals in the 3m individual springboard and synchronized competition alongside Dan Good, with 415.74 points.
“General, we are very happy,” supposed Laugher. “It was our first rivalry since last year’s World Championships, as we must have been able to dive at the national championships (in January) meanwhile I had a bad back. A good guy supposed, it was a great score to start and we are looking forward to the next two World Series events this Olympic 2020 year.”
Daley, who chose not to compete in the men’s coordinated 10m, won the silver medal with Grace Reid in the final of the 3m mixed synchronized springboard, behindhand François Imbeau-Dulac and Jennifer Abel of Canada.
