The 35 years old Muhammad Khalil Akhter from Pakistan Army, put up a superb show in the World Shooting Cup in Brazil, ended up on 6th in the quick-fire pistol competition.
NRAP Executive Vice President Javaid Lodhi said in a statement “Khalil has qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through the quota system. Khalil will contest in 25m Quick-fire pistol event including a successive rapid-fire in the standing position over short eras of eight, six and four seconds. No automatic function is used and all shots need the trigger to be dragged physically.
Akhtar had taken a silver medal in the Men’s 25-metre Rapid Fire Pistol Team occasion in the 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati and Shillong, India. In 2018 he contested in the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast and ended up the sixth position.
