Italy was close to the goal and Musselman responded with another goal on a magnificent lob for a 10-8 lead with two minutes left. Italy closed at 10-9 with 33 seconds to go and would have one last chance but failed the convert. The defense of Team USA remained strong on the road to victory.
The United States scored 5/12 on the power play and 1/1 in penalty attempts, while Italy was 5/8 overdue and 1/2 on penalties.
